The Dirty Heads recently kicked off their Tour Odyssey with Shiny Toy Guns to promote their first album in four years, Cabin by the Sea. After staging a successful tour with Matisyahu last summer, co-frontman Jared “Dirty J” Watson says that the band wanted to try something different for their current trek.
"We just thought it would be almost too easy or too comfortable to just go out with another band that’s very similar to us, so we wanted to do something different,” he tells ABC News Radio. “So we wanted to do…a night of music, rather than a night of the same music. And it’s been going well.”
Co-frontman and guitarist Dustin “Duddy B” Bushnell adds that fans who attend the upcoming shows can expect to hear a sizeable number of songs from Cabin by the Sea. “This is our first time this tour doing this new set and the crowd seems to be really into it, the energy’s good and I think that…we’re finally finding our comfort zone with these new songs,” he explains. “And we added a keyboard player to our live set recently too and that’s helped a lot for us to be able to expand and do different things for the live set.”
The Dirty Heads’ Tour Odyssey will be trekking across North America until it makes its final stop on April 19 at the Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Visit DirtyHeads.com for the full itinerary.
