Mumford & Sons “Want to Rap” on Next Album
5:37AM Friday
March 1, 2013

Mumford & Sons fans can expect the band to explore some new creative avenues on their next album.  Frontman Marcus Mumford says that the guys would like to experiment with some new genres on the band’s upcoming third studio album.

"We really want to rap,” Mumford tells Rolling Stone.  “We've just got so much to say -– saying it through a melody doesn't really work for me.  We've been talking with Jay-Z about it…it's gonna be a fresh experience for our band."

Keyboardist Ben Lovett adds that the band hopes to add a number of musical flavors to the mix as they begin to put together ideas for the next album.  "I do feel like we're ready to make the departure," he explains.  "There's definitely cohesion between [2010's Sigh No More and 2012’s Babel].  Now that we've done that, we're not desperate to walk away from that sound, but we're willing to explore what else we could do.”
